Comment from the CEO
I recently returned from 8 days away without any phone or internet access… and what a difference a week makes! I was amazed to find emptying supermarket shelves and read about people fighting over toilet paper, and alarmed to see the fear-driven media frenzy in full gear. As a friend said, “It’s not the virus that worries me, it’s the way that humans react that really scares me”.
It’s time to stop, breathe and calm ourselves. We live in communities which exist to provide support to each other. Now, more than ever is a time to look after ourselves and make sure that we care for one another.
Take a moment to stop, breathe deeply and slowly, calm your nervous system and practice these simple tasks daily:
- Get plenty of sleep
- Chat with trusted friends
- Laugh
- Be grateful
- Move/stretch, walk outside (sunshine, water, trees and views)
- Eat real food (and small portions)
- Have hot baths and cold showers
- Make and play music, sing and dance
